Features
Hastelloy B-3 is a nickel-molybdenum corrosion-resistant alloy developed for severe reducing environments. It provides extremely high resistance to pure hydrochloric, hydrobromic and sulfuric acids while offering improved structural stability compared with earlier B-type alloys.
The alloy is ductile in the mill-annealed condition, can be formed and welded, and offers strong resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. Its improved thermal stability reduces concerns associated with detrimental phase formation during fabrication and service.
Hastelloy B-3 is widely used in chemical-processing equipment handling strongly reducing acids, including reactors, piping, heat exchangers and pressure-containing components.
