Features
FV520B is a precipitation-hardening stainless steel developed for engineering components requiring high mechanical strength together with good toughness and corrosion resistance. Controlled heat treatment enables the alloy to achieve a strong balance of mechanical and environmental performance.
Its chromium content provides corrosion resistance, while nickel contributes to toughness and structural stability. Molybdenum further improves corrosion performance, and copper together with other strengthening additions contributes to the precipitation-hardening response.
FV520B can develop high tensile and yield strength after suitable solution treatment and aging while retaining useful ductility and fatigue resistance. These characteristics make it particularly suitable for highly stressed rotating and load-bearing components.
Typical applications include compressor components, shafts, valve parts, fasteners, aerospace hardware, marine equipment and precision-machined components operating under demanding mechanical conditions.
