Features
XM-19 is a nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless steel designed to combine significantly higher mechanical strength than conventional 300-series stainless steels with excellent corrosion resistance and toughness.
Its chromium, nickel, molybdenum, manganese and nitrogen alloying system provides strong resistance to general and localized corrosion. Nitrogen plays an important role in increasing strength while also contributing to pitting resistance without sacrificing useful ductility.
XM-19 performs particularly well in marine and seawater environments and provides good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride-related attack. Its combination of strength and corrosion resistance makes it suitable for highly loaded components exposed to aggressive environments.
Typical applications include marine shafts, valve stems, pump components, fasteners, seawater equipment and machined parts used in chemical processing, nuclear, oil and gas, and marine engineering.
