Features

253MA is a heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel engineered for applications requiring high mechanical strength and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Its carefully balanced chromium, nickel, silicon and nitrogen contents provide effective performance during prolonged thermal exposure.

Nitrogen contributes to elevated-temperature strength, while increased silicon improves oxidation resistance. A small rare-earth addition promotes the formation and adhesion of a protective oxide layer, helping the material withstand repeated heating and cooling cycles.

Compared with conventional austenitic stainless steels, 253MA provides a useful combination of creep strength, oxidation resistance and economical alloy content. It performs particularly well in furnace atmospheres and other high-temperature industrial environments.

Typical applications include furnace linings, burner components, recuperators, kiln equipment, heat-treatment fixtures, high-temperature ducting and petrochemical processing equipment.
